Gaming Rules-design note One Hero Engine

One Hero Engine: Changelog

Publication notes for the current One Hero Engine draft.

Current published draft

  • Version: v0.12
  • Status: In development
  • Play status: Unplayed
  • Rules status: Original game design

Editorial publication note

This website edition now divides the original long One Hero Engine article into shorter pages for easier reading and reference. This is a structural and editorial split of the published draft rather than a mechanical redesign.

2026-06-20 consistency pass

  • Aligned saving-throw wording across the split rules pages and quick reference.
  • Reworked the combat page into one confirmed turn procedure based on the current draft.
  • Removed obsolete example abilities that no longer exist in the published v0.12 text.
  • Marked unresolved procedures explicitly where the current source does not define them consistently.
  • Updated the editable character-sheet template to match the current draft terminology and open rules gaps.

Still unresolved in the current draft

  • Starting HP and HP gained by level
  • Zero HP, defeat, death, unconsciousness, or withdrawal
  • A full Morale subsystem
  • A complete Fray eligibility procedure
  • A universal spellcasting roll and failed-casting procedure
  • A universal concentration procedure
  • A complete summoning procedure outside individual spell text

Rules review required: The repository only contains the public character sheet as a PDF binary asset, so that downloadable file was not directly corrected in this pass.

Historical changelog

The current published draft does not include a detailed version-by-version historical changelog.

Rules review required: This procedure is not fully defined in the current published draft.
